Occupation: Politician, TV Personality
Party Affiliation: Republican
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Congressman, Wisconsin 7th
Former reality TV star, professional lumberjack athlete, and local prosecutor, elected to US Congress in 2010. Republican. Anti-abortion, anti-gay rights. Ran pledging tax cuts and repeal of regulatory restrictions. Succeeded David Obey, who did not stand for re-election. Duffy and his wife both participated on MTV's Real Life, but in separate seasons.
Has complained that his $174K Congressional salary simply isn't enough:
I can guarantee you, or most of you, I guarantee that I have more debt than all of you. With 6 kids, I still pay off my student loans. I still pay my mortgage. I drive a used minivan. If you think I'm living high on the hog, I've got one paycheck. So I struggle to meet my bills right now. Would it be easier for me if I get more paychecks? Maybe, but at this point I'm not living high on the hog.
After video of Duffy lamenting the above spread on the Internet, the Polk County GOP began to demand its removal, presumably due to embarrassment potential. That salary puts his family in the 98th percentile of household incomes nationwide, with the median in his county being $47,000.
