A shopkeeper after the death of her father. A journal of her unchaperoned two week horseback journey in 1704 (such a journey rarely undertaken by a woman) was published in 1825 as The Journal of Mme. Knight by Theodore Dwight, Jr. Because it was written by a lay person, it provides a rare and valuable insight into American 18th century life.
