Executive summary: Broadcast.com founder bought Dallas Mavericks Founder of MicroSolutions, a systems integrator, which he sold to Compuserve, Inc. Co-founded Broadcast.com with Todd Wagner, which they sold to Yahoo! in July 1999 for $5.7B during the tech boom. From this, Cuban netted about $2B for himself, and went on a spending spree. Cuban purchased the NBA team Dallas Mavericks on 14 January 2000 for $280M. He is now involved in the creation of HDTV programming.
Mark Cuban is considered a loudmouth in the NBA, and if you spend any time at a Mavericks game this is readily apparent. He allegedly imprudently threatened to "slice the fucking nuts off" of a reporter who published the name of his fiancee (who incidentally was Tiffany Stewart, the name which the reporter read off her nametag at a Mavericks game.)
