Founded as Executive Jet, Inc. as a charter jet service. In 1984 the company was purchased by Richard T. Santulli, who introduced the company's NetJets business in 1986 as a manager of "fractional jet ownership" -- applying the timeshare model to private planes. Executive Jet was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in 1998, and renamed NetJets in 2002.
