Once part of J. Sainsbury plc, acquired by Albertson's in 2004 for $2.5B. In 2006, the assets of Albertson's were cleaved by a consortium, and Supervalu received Shaw's and several other chains. It presently operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Supervalu.
