Chains at one time under the aegis of American include Acme Markets, Alpha Beta, Buttrey Food & Drug, Jewel Companies, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Sav-on Drug, Shaw's Supermarkets, and Star Markets. The various American Stores properties were divvied up in 2006 among a consortium including CVS and Supervalu.
