COMPANY

History of this company is complex. Its roots go back to 1912 with the formation of Cellonit Gesellschaft Dreyfus & Co. in Basel, Switzerland. After machinations filling most of the 20th century, Celanese AG is spun off from Hoechst AG in 1999 and traded on the New York Stock Excahnge as CZ. The private investment firm Blackstone Group acquired Celanese AG in 2004 and merged it with other interests, including Acetex Corporation. After restructuring the new firm was issued as an IPO in 2005, listed as CE.
