Prominent British gaming firm, also owner of Vernons. Founded in 1886, Ladbrokes began trading on the London Stock Exchange in 1967. Between 1999 and 2006 it was a major hotel owner, and operated as Hilton Group plc. Ladbrokes announced its intention in late 2006 to acquire 888, an Internet gambling concern, for £490M.
