COMPANY

Electronic commerce software and business automation. It acquired XML firm Veo Systems in 1999 for $300M. Commerce One filed for bankruptcy in 2004, and its patents were auctioned off, presumably to be used in unsavory ways by patent "enforcement" firms. The company's remnants were acquired by Perfect Commerce in 2006.
