It was acquired 1978/79 by Dayton Hudson, which later became Target.
Target sold the store in 2004 to a consortium of private equity firms, including Cerberus Capital Management, Sun Capital Partners, and Lubert Adler Management, for $1.2B.
Mervyn's filed for bankruptcy in July 2008, and later announced it would be liquidated after the holidays.
