Renamed to Circuit City in 1984.

In 2007, fired 3000 of their highest-paid sales staff. In this attempt at cost cutting, they discarded all of their best sales people.

Filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, 10 November 2008.

The company retains approximately 550 stores. As no buyer was found by January 2009, Circuit City will liquidate its assets.
