Specialty chemicals, founded 1920 by Robert I. Wishnick, and brothers Julius and David Tumpeer as Wishnick-Tumpeer Chemical Company. It became Witco Corporation in 1944, and merged with Crompton & Knowles in 1999 to form CKWitco, though quickly changed its name to Crompton Corporation. In 2005 Crompton merged with Great Lakes Chemical to become Chemtura.
