EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

The first public high school in the state of Ohio, it opened 1846 in the basement of the Prospect Street Church, until a lot was purchased later that year. A fantastic Gothic building for the school was erected in 1878 at a cost of $74,000. With declining enrollment, it closed in 1982.
