Sixteen-year-old Nick is wracked with guilt after his Maori friend, Sam, dies in a accidental fall while the pair are hunting. Staying away for a while with his grandparents, Nick's grandfather Hubert takes him on a hiking trip; he meets a somewhat misandrous‎ older girl, Sally. Disappointing coming-of-age film set in 1950s New Zealand, though with some spectacular scenery.
