A New York police officer is tasked with talking a man responsible for massive caper out of jumping to his death from a hotel building ledge.

ABSTRACT
Nick Cassidy, an ex-policeman who recently escaped from a twenty-five-year long prison sentence for stealing a diamond worth forty million dollars, checks into a Manhattan hotel room and subsequently steps out onto a ledge outside a 21st-story window, threatening to jump. Unbeknownst to Jack Dougherty, the police officer responsible for talking Cassidy out of his "jump", the "attempt" is nothing more than a means of buying time for brother Joey and brother's girlfriend Angie to steal the diamond in question out of its vault and seemingly absolve Nick of his guilt.
