Parody of 1960s-era romantic comedies follows a relationship between a feminist writer and a chauvinistic bachelor.

Small-town girl Barbara Novak courts controversy and success in equal measure as a writer in New York City, kickstarting modern feminism with a book titled Down with Love encouraging women to place their own interests above those of the man in their life. Sly, old-fashioned bachelor Catcher Block, writing for Know magazine, looks to win Barbara's heart for the purposes of a column meant to embarrass her; complications arise when Block starts to develop legitimate feelings towards Barbara, jeopardizing his mission.
