ABSTRACT
Remake of Hairspray (1988). Dance-obsessed overweight teenager Tracy Turnblad aspires to earn a spot on the Corny Collins Show, an early-1960s Baltimore dance program featuring area heartthrob Link Larkin. Attending auditions for the show that ultimately find her winning a spot on air, Tracy learns about the Caucasian-operated program's attitudes towards black would-be participants, shifting gears as she channels her love of dance into a crusade to flip the town's prejudiced ways upside down.
