A couple reeling from the loss of their baby adopt a child with a disturbing history.

ABSTRACT
Kate Coleman, a drink-addled woman whose recovery process is hampered by nightmares of her regrettable past, looks to rebuild her disintegrating marriage with husband John following a miscarriage through the adoption of ostensibly sugar-sweet nine-year old Russian orphan Esther. All is not as it initially seems in this modernized rehashing of the old "evil child" horror trope, however, as Kate grows aware of a nasty streak lurking in Esther's past that she must work to convince those around her of before it is too late.
