Maxwell Smart, administrative employee of American intelligence agency CONTROL, longs for a high-stakes life of trotting around the globe and dispatching evil wherever it may lurk, just like personal hero and co-worker Agent 23. Opportunity strikes under inopportune circumstances when an attack on CONTROL's headquarters and subsequent lack of capable manpower leads the Chief to designate Maxwell a spy and pair him up with femme fatale Agent 99, sending the unlikely team on an oft-comedic mission to Russia to perform battle against rival agency KAOS.
