ABSTRACT
A spacecraft crashes to earth in 709 A.D., bringing surviving pilot Kainan to the Viking-controlled kingdom of Herot, Norway. Learning that the Morwen species of extraterrestrial predator he'd been transporting has escaped, Kainan forges an unsteady alliance with the locals after being mistaken for a killer, working to prevent Earth from falling victim to the Morwen.
