ABSTRACT
Christian, a writer of Anglo-Saxon extraction, arrives in Paris towards the end of the 19th century to chronicle the European metropolis' ongoing Bohemian revolution, heading to the city's renowned Moulin Rouge nightclub as a bawdy epicenter of sorts for the city's "scene". Taking a liking to Satine, the club's star courtesan, Christian pursues a serious romance with her, only to find himself plunged into a musical -- and potentially violent -- sort of love triangle when he learns of a powerful duke's intense desire for her.
