ABSTRACT
Claire Paxton, a rough-and-tumble young woman living in Toronto whose life is profoundly affected by her mother's existence as a self-absorbed alcoholic, must repeat some of her senior-year classes at her local high school if she is to successfully graduate. Opting to do so during the regular school year rather than in the summer, Claire finds herself caught up in a sexual relationship with thirty-something funk band front man Jim, a romance that looks to be shaken up by ninth-grader Henry's secret infatuation with her.
