ABSTRACT
Mexican cowboy Melquiades Estrada is inadvertently shot and killed by trigger-happy Latino-fearing border patrolman Mike Norton, buried in the high desert of west Texas shortly thereafter. Ranch foreman Pete Perkins, Melquiades' best friend, discovers his body a week later; eager to fulfill his friend's wishes, he moves to re-bury him in his hometown of Jimenez, kidnapping Mike along the way when he learns of his identity.
