A man unfazed by the Earth's impending demise is abandoned by his wife, ultimately leading him to set out on a road trip in search of his high school sweetheart.

ABSTRACT
Dodge Petersen is a middle-aged insurance salesman whose disinterested reaction to news of Earth's certain doom -- namely, that a 70-mile-wide asteroid named Matilda is on a likely collision course with the planet in approximately three weeks -- leads his wife to abandon him on the side of the road. Alone with the apocalypse on the horizon, Dodge first tries going on with life as usual before failing to kill himself, ultimately deciding to exchange an offer to find someone who could fly his neighbor to England in return for help finding and reuniting with his long-lost high school sweetheart.
