Our Mother's House (9-Oct-1967)|
Director: Jack Clayton
Writers: Jeremy Brooks; Haya Harareet
From novel: Our Mother's House by Julian Gloag
When their pious but bedridden mother dies, the seven underage Hook children, fearing orphanage and separation, continue the charade that she is still alive. They survive for a time by cashing her pension checks, but then their father Charlie turns up. Unusual film, probably too dark for young children. Dirk Bogarde gives a brilliant and powerful performance.
