A recently-divorced mother's son makes an unlikely friend in a cranky old neighbor.
Overworked and exasperated recently-divorced mother Maggie, unable to find a caregiver for twelve-year old son Oliver capable of accommodating her schedule, reluctantly leaves him with vice-indulging retired neighbor Vincent. Vincent, a seemingly cold-hearted, cranky old man, becomes an unlikely friend and father figure to young Oliver, ushering him into adulthood with some tough love and weirdness as he welcomes him to his colorful world of hole-in-the-wall bars and strip clubs.
