An everyday Taiwanese family find their harmonious balance shaken by a series of unfortunate events.

ABSTRACT
NJ, wife Min-Min, daughter Ting-Ting, and son Yang-Yang are an average family living average lives in contemporary Taiwan; an ill-fated wedding for Min-Min's brother proves to be the first in a series of inopportune events threatening to disrupt their agreeable order, however, when her mother leaves early and suffers a massive stroke. NJ crosses paths with his first girlfriend -- now engaged to an American -- shortly thereafter, causing him to doubt his lot in life as his employer prepares to send him to Japan on a business trip and his children struggle with their own creeping adolescence.
