The tale of Captain Ahab's obsessive and self-destructive quest to find and kill Moby Dick, the white whale who disfigured him as a young man. As with Melville's prose, the story is related by Ishmael, sole survivor of the whaling ship Pequod. Although young for an Ahab, Gregory Peck at the time was the only name actor who could take this role. Huston's adaptation captures the spirit of this difficult novel.
