ABSTRACT
Travis Freeman, beloved high school football star in a tiny Kentucky town, is stricken with an optic nerve-destroying infection leaving him with total, irreversible blindness. Frustrated and confused by his sudden disability, Travis perseveres with the help of family, friends, physical therapists, and a benevolent coach, becoming a local hero of sorts as he looks to use his newfound social status to pull childhood friend and teammate Jerry Baker away from a vice-filled destructive path.
