ABSTRACT
Stanley Crawford, master stage magician performing as Wei Ling Soo in 1920s-era Great Britain, moonlights as a skeptic who delights in debunking false "psychics" and their games. Confidant and fellow magician Howard Burkan requests Stanley's assistance in investigating Sophie Baker, a young woman claiming to help an American family communicate with a dead relative; romantic complications naturally arise as Stanley ships off to the south of France in an attempt to expose the charming, if weird, lady.
