Cinema adaptation of the 2003 novel of the same name tells the true story of Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane's inventive attempts to field a competitive Major League Baseball franchise in an age of decreasing parity.

ABSTRACT
Brad Pitt stars as Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane in this dramatization of the Athletics' 2002 season, in which they won 103 games and went on a league-record twenty-game winning streak due in large part to a "Sabermetrics"-based statistical approach to assessing talent -- since copied by nearly every other team in the big leagues -- that permitted them to contend with teams possessing unimaginably bigger payrolls than their own. Nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor.
