In a future with extant time travel accessible only to outlaws, time-traveling assassin Joe encounters himself when he fails to send his elder form back in time to be murdered.

ABSTRACT
Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in this time travel-themed sci-fi thriller as Joe, a 25-year old professional criminal working for a Kansas City crime syndicate as a "looper" -- a hitman sent back in time to kill and dispose of desired victims -- under the orders of a man from the future known only as Abe. Joe's life is turned upside down one night, however, when best friend Seth tells him that he has failed to "close [his] own loop" -- killing one's self from thirty years in the future to collect gold bars -- and that Seth's own future self warned him of a mysterious individual called the Rainmaker who has seized control of all major crime syndicates in the distant future.
