ABSTRACT
Allen Gamble, a forensic accountant gripped by a chronic unwillingness to take risks, spends his days at work paired up with Terry Hoitz, an overzealous detective relegated to his present line of duty after his accidental shooting of Derek Jeter during the World Series. When the men -- enamored with hero cops Chris Danson and P.K. Highsmith and normally tasked with filling out their paperwork -- happen upon a multi-billion-dollar financial scandal waiting to happen, they attempt to fill the shoes of their universally-adored idols, taking it upon themselves to solve a crime capable of grabbing front-page headlines.
