Boys attend St. Basil's Academy in 1965; among them are Andrew McCarthy as Michael Dunn, an orphan newly transferred from Boston whose grandmother intends that he become a priest; and Kevin Dillon as Rooney, rebellious troublemaker. McCarthy is ostensibly the main character but Dillon steals most of the scenes he is in.
