The Keys of the Kingdom (15-Dec-1944)

Director: John M. Stahl Writers: Nunnally Johnson; Joseph L. Mankiewicz From novel: The Keys of the Kingdom by A. J. Cronin Keywords: Drama A young and somewhat unorthodox Catholic priest in turn-of-the-century Britain struggles to fit in with life as a rector, only finding his true calling after he is selected for an evangelical mission to China. Though somewhat dated and undeniably a sentimental film, Gregory Peck yields a surprisingly powerful performance among a well-chosen cast. Received Oscar nominations for Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Dramatic Score, and Best Interior Decoration.
