A destitute soldier returning from war in 19th-century France uses his physical gifts and charm to advance his standing in society.

Adapted from Guy de Maupassant's 1885 novel of the same name, Bel Ami tells a tale of how Georges Duroy, a handsome young soldier lacking much in the way of a moral compass nor concern for anyone's well-being but his own, utilizes his charisma and attractive appearance upon returning home from war to woo some of Paris' wealthiest women and chart a rise to power.
