ABSTRACT
A futuristic, seemingly utopian society exists on Earth, outlawing human emotion save for state-enforced happiness as a means of avoiding war and suffering. A young man named Jonas is appointed his society's "Receiver of Memories"; tasked with learning about all the sad truths of the real world from a wise elder called "The Giver", Jonas finds himself shaped into an unlikely revolutionary as he endeavors to reintroduce feelings to his sad world.
