Film adaptation of the classic novel of the same name follows a Russian aristocrat as she enters into an affair with an affluent count.
The latest in a vast series of silver-screen adaptations of the 1877 Leo Tolstoy novel, Anna Karenina tells the tale of how its titular character, the sister of imperial Russian prince "Stiva" Oblonsky and a well-liked socialite in St. Petersburg, has an affair with the immensely wealthy Count Vronsky. The affair, which tears apart Karenina's bond with husband Alexei and son Seryozha, is an epic one that ultimately ends in tragedy.
