Lynyrd Skynyrd
MUSIC
Southern rock band, formed around 1970. Active until 1978 when half of the band died in a plane crash. The surviving members reunited in 1987. Named for the bandmates' high school phys ed teacher, Leonard Skinner, who had railed against their long hair.
