Founded 1928 in Egypt by teacher Hassan al-Banna, al-Ikhwan (the Brotherhood) is an organization dedicated to the restoration of the Caliphate and Sharia the Islamic code of justice. They believe that only a retreat from the taint of Westernization and secularism will restore the Islamic world its rightful inheritance.
