[1] Duncan's birth records were destroyed in the aftermath of the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906, but there is a baptismal record indicating a birth as "Angela I. Duncan" on 26 May 1877. Many sources indicate that she was born one day later, on the 27th, but there are no physical records to back this up. Some sources also indicate "Dora" as a given name but in light of the above baptismal record, it is clearly a diminutive of "Isadora." [2] Died after the very long scarf she was wearing became entangled in the wheels of her Bugatti sports car, throwing her from the vehicle and strangling her.
