AKA Michael Lee Yonkers
Birthplace: Minneapolis, MN
Race or Ethnicity: White
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Microminiature Love
Minneapolis psychadelic rocker who experimented with modifying his guitar and building his own effects pedals. Briefly signed to Sire Records in 1968, recording one album, Microminiature Love, though the album was never released. Yonkers continued to record until 1971, when he broke his back in a bizarre work-related accident moving electronics equipment; years of surgery left him with a debilitating spinal cord condition. Yonkers managed to release some of his recordings on his own in 1974. Yonkers was forgotten until 1997, when a pair of his songs wound up on a compilation put out by the studio that had recorded Microminiature Love. Eventually he was tracked down, and Microminiature Love was released properly by De Stijl records in 2002. Yonkers was prevailed upon to record again, and It's Only Yonkers followed in 2004.
