Devices based on this technology now help US troops detect explosive devices in Iraq. His has also studied electronic polymers, imaging agents for detecting Alzheimer's, lasers as explosives detectors, liquid crystals, molecular electronics, molecular recognition, photonics, polymer science, supramolecular science, and synthetic conductors.
