Replaced guitarist John Curulewski in Styx. While not an original member, Shaw wrote some of the band's most memorable tracks, including Fooling Yourself, Blue Collar Man, and Too Much Time on My Hands. Shaw released a solo album in 1984 and then went on to form Damn Yankees with Ted Nugent, Jack Blades from Night Ranger, and Michael Cartellone. Shaw rejoined Styx with their 1996 reunion tour.
