In 1968, Alexander Dubcek launched a series of political reforms which ultimately became known as "Prague Spring." Those lasted for a few months until August, when Leonid Brezhnev dispatched 600,000 Soviet troops, seized control of Czechoslovakia, and forcibly rescinded any and all progress toward freedom.
