Considers herself "an openly gay, pro-choice, gun-owning, pro-death penalty, liberal, voted-for-Reagan feminist." Was part of Governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger's transition team in October 2003.
Fired by Los Angeles AM talk radio station KFI in 1998 after she went ballistic on Bill Cosby and his wife Camille, who had recently lost their son Ennis in a brutal murder. According to the on-air apology issued by station managers, Bruce "made various comments about Mrs. Cosby and her husband Bill Cosby that were unfounded, meanspirited, and simply inappropriate." Furthermore: "Mrs. Cosby was characterized as 'incredibly unstable, crazy, paranoid, delusional, just nuts' and the like. It was suggested that Mrs. Cosby seek therapy. We had no information about Mrs. Cosby’s mental health[...] We wish to apologize."
While they were at it, KFI managers also apologized for Bruce's allegation that Bill Cosby had fathered "multiple illegitimate children as a result of multiple extramarital affairs with white women" and also for suggesting that he had "secretly funded the criminal defense of O. J. Simpson."
Interview, The O'Reilly Factor, 1 December 2003: "Well, first of all, let me say as a Democrat and as a feminist and as a progressive, and as an openly gay woman, I also have an investment in progressive politics."
