[1] In Chicago attending the Midwest U.S.-Japan Conference, O'Bannon suffered a major stroke. Five days later it was apparent that he would not make a recovery. Life support was discontinued at the request of the Governor's family, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago.
