Film and TV writer/producer and sometimes actor Mike White is best known for scripting The School of Rock, and playing the teacher impersonated by Jack Black in that film. He has said that he was first inspired to write by his second grade teacher, the mother of playwright Sam Shepard. White also competed in the 2009 edition of the reality show The Amazing Race, teaming up with his father.
