Virtually ignored in Canada, Myles' hit Black Velvet (1989) had to become popular in America for her parent country even to notice her. Soon thereafter he manager, Danny Goldberg, left for Atlantic, and Miles Copeland of IRS records assumed that position. He pressured Atlantic to release a new album, A-Lan-Nah, but sales at 160,000 copies were miserable. One of Copeland's labels, Ark 21, acquired the artist and released Arival, but since then the company has gone into financial difficulties.
