NHL expansion team in 1993, originally called The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim to capitalize on then-owner Disney's big hockey-themed hit of the previous year, The Mighty Ducks. Wisely renamed the Anaheim Ducks by subsequent team owners after the 2005-06 season. Won the Stanley Cup in 2007.
